I found there was degradation in the sound from the conversion process. In my experience using JRiver to convert DSD to PCM in the past, it wasn't as good as the original DSD file played to a DSD converter. You have a player that is reviewed to play DSD beautifully but you want to down convert the DSD files to PCM for convenience? My end game is to play the files using my Oppo 203 then optical out to the optical input of my Marantz SA-KI Ruby. Or would it be better to use a program to rip the DSD files to PCM in bulk then convert them to FLAC? Would it be best to find a program to add gain to the files that were converted using the Bluesound program? I still have them in a separate folder on the hard drive. That members issue seems similar to mine and he also used an Oppo 103 to rip his SACDs. It mentions the lower volume levels after converting DSD files to FLAC. On a search here on SH for "DSD to FLAC" this thread came up. This seemed to work but the volume levels are much lower than the original DSD files. I recently bought a Bluesound Node (which was returned) and it had a program to convert DSD to FLAC. The DSD files are stored on a Western Digital My Passport hard drive. Is this the preferred method? This process will be done using a HP laptop running Windows 10.
Also some programs that I looked at spoke about converting DSD to PCM then to FLAC. I'd like to find a program that could convert the files to FLAC in bulk for space savings. I have quite a few DSD files from SACD rips that were done using an Oppo 103.
